Premier Rugby Sevens Launches Coaching Development Series to Advance Rugby Coaching in the U.S.

(NEW YORK – Jan. 22, 2025)—Premier Rugby Sevens (PR7s) announced today the launch of the PR7s Coaching Development Series, an exclusive eight-week online program designed to empower rugby coaches across the U.S. The series will be led by Top-tier coaches, including PR7s General Manager and former USA 15s National Coach Mike Tolkin and two-time Olympic Coach Richie Walker.

The program kicks off on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. EST with a session on “Training Plan/Game Plan.” Each bi-weekly session will feature a 60 to 90-minute class focusing on key topics such as defensive analysis, set pieces, transitioning from 15s to 7s, and player development. Sessions will run through Sunday, May 11, 2025. Registration is now open at PRSevens.com.

The PR7s Coaching Development Series costs $39 per session or $199 for the entire eight-week series.

Tolkin and Walker will lead each session with guest coaches, including Olympian Kelly Griffin, Ros Chou, Kurt Morath, and Irene Gardner.

  • Sunday, March 30 (7 p.m. ET): Set Pieces (Karameli Faaee, Tui Osborne)
  • Monday, April 14 (10 p.m. ET): Nutrition/Strength & Conditioning (Irene Gardner, Ian Gibbons)
  • Sunday, April 27 (7 p.m. ET): Transition 15s to 7s (Olympian Kelly Griffin, Peter Sio)
  • Sunday, May 11 (7 p.m. ET): Players Journey (Guest Coach TBD)
