(KANSAS CITY – May 15, 2024) — Premier Rugby Sevens (PR7s), the pinnacle of professional rugby in the United States for women and men, announced it has teamed up with the Kansas City Current to host a Development Rugby Camp from Tuesday, July 23 to Thursday, July 25. This camp will take place in the Current’s world-class practice facility, located in Riverside, Mo., which opened in 2022. The camp schedule will include a rugby sevens Olympic watch party, where many of the PR7s athletes will be competing for their respective countries this summer.
“As rugby takes center stage at the Olympic Games in Paris, our KC Development Rugby Camp presents a unique opportunity to bring our dynamic sport to a wider audience,” said Owen Scannell, Founder and CEO of Premier Rugby Sevens. “We invite athletes from all disciplines to experience rugby’s exhilarating pace and strategy. Whether you’re a soccer player looking to enhance your agility and teamwork, a track athlete eager to apply your speed in new ways, or a football player interested in broadening your physical skills, our camp offers a prime platform to explore rugby.”
The Development Rugby Camp at the University of Kansas Health System Training Center, home of the KC Current, is designed for athletes in grades nine through 12. It is for players who are either seeking to advance their rugby skills or newcomers looking to discover the sport. Under the guidance of the PR7s coaching staff and top-tier athletes, attendees will receive elite instruction in a nurturing environment.
