The PR7s Coaching Development Series is set to kick off this weekend, beginning with “Training and Game Planning,” hosted by Lauren Trout and Troy Hall, Head Coaches of the Women’s and Men’s Texas Team.
This virtual coaching program is designed to provide insight and continuing education for coaches in the 7s game. Whether you’re coaching at the grassroots level or aspiring to coach professionally, this series offers valuable knowledge and strategies to elevate your coaching.
Developed by PR7s General Manager and former USA 15s National Coach Mike Tolkin and two-time Olympic Coach Richie Walker, the program features weekly sessions led by guest coaches.
“We ran a demo session in Kansas City last year, and it exceeded our expectations,” said Tolkin. “With very little notice, we had 24 attendees. Richie and I thought, why not expand on this?”
Each session focuses on a specific topic, covering aspects of 7s coaching relevant to all levels of the game.
“We have international coaches, PR7s coaches, and club coaches leading discussions,” Tolkin explained. “The goal is to bring in diverse perspectives to cover various aspects of 7s and team preparation. If you’re a club coach looking to reach the next level, this program is an excellent opportunity.”
Tolkin emphasized the importance of tapping into the wealth of coaching knowledge within the USA and beyond. Some sessions will even feature insights from USA 7s players.
“This is a space for learning, exchanging ideas, and sharing real-world experiences. Plus, it’s going to be fun.”
